Dogū from Kamegaoka, Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture

A dogū—a clay figurine from Japan's Jōmon period—of the 'shakōki-dogū' type, named for its huge, goggle-like eyes. This is a celebrated example excavated at Kamegaoka in Aomori.
