Privacy Policy

Arterra is a non-commercial, individually-run museum-exploration site. We collect only the minimum information the service needs and respect your privacy. You can use every exploration feature without signing in.

1. Information we collect

① On Google sign-in: your email, name, and profile picture (provided by Google) — signing in is optional. ② Member activity: treasured items, collections, visited museums, and notes (linked to your member ID) ③ The content and email you provide when contacting us ④ Visit statistics: aggregate page-view counts and the domain of the site you arrived from (e.g. google.com) — this does not identify individuals.

2. Cookies & local storage

We use a necessary cookie to keep you signed in (Supabase auth). To avoid double-counting views we keep a temporary flag in your browser’s sessionStorage (not a cookie). When advertising is enabled, Google AdSense may use cookies to serve ads.

3. How we use it

Only to provide personalised features (such as “My Museum”), to respond to inquiries, to understand visit trends, and to improve the service. Nothing else.

4. Storage & security

Data is stored on Supabase with row-level security (RLS), so each member can access only their own data.

5. Third-party services

We never sell personal data. To run the service we use: Google (authentication), Vercel (hosting, analytics & speed insights), Google AdSense (ads, when enabled), and content sources (museum open APIs & Wikimedia Commons). No personal data is sent to museums or Wikimedia.

6. Advertising

To help sustain the service, some detail pages may show Google AdSense ads. Google may use cookies to serve personalised ads; you can opt out at Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com). The home (globe) screen carries no ads.

7. Retention & deletion

You can delete your account and related data yourself from “My Museum” settings; deletion also removes your member activity. You may also request access, correction, or deletion via the contact below.

8. Arterra Kids (children’s service)

Arterra Kids (kids.arterra.co.kr / app) is a separate service for children and follows these principles. ① Children are never asked to sign in or register, and we collect no personal information from children. ② The iOS and Android apps provide no sign-in feature. The apps collect no personal information. ③ Progress such as stamps and stickers is stored only on the device (localStorage) by default. ④ If a guardian signs in with an Arterra account on the web (browser), the child’s progress can be saved and synced to the guardian’s account. What is stored is progress data linked to the guardian’s account, not a child’s personal information. ⑤ Arterra Kids contains no advertising, tracking, or analytics code. ⑥ Weather effects use only general weather data for Seoul (Open-Meteo); we do not request location permission or collect location. ⑦ All artwork shown is in the public domain (PD) or released under CC0.
