Curator’s note

Herman Doomer (ca. 1595–1650)

A portrait by Rembrandt, master of the Dutch Golden Age, depicting the frame-maker Herman Doomer. His face emerges from soft light and deep shadow — the warm, soul-revealing illumination unmistakably Rembrandt’s.
