Curator’s note

Odalisque in Grisaille

A grisaille version related to Ingres's famous Grande Odalisque, by the French Neoclassical master. Stripped of color, it relies on light and shade alone to emphasize the elegant, elongated curves of the reclining figure and Ingres's pursuit of ideal form.
